About This Item
London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1897. Cloth. Good. 8" by 5.5". Lucien Davis. Published as part of the Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes series, this illustrated volume celebrates and provides guidance on billiards. An early edition of this volume on Billiards, with frontispiece, ten plates, and numerous in text illustrations, collated and complete. Published between 1885 and 1902, the Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes was a series of sporting books published by Longmans, Green & Co. The series aimed to cover all major sports, and this volume offers the rules and history of the billiards, alongside chapters on breaking and different strokes. In the publisher's original brown cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, more so to the joints and the edges of the volume. Rubbed to the spine, with some light bumping to the head, and a little more to the tail. Internally, generally firmly bound, although pages 135 to 139 are disbound, but present. Rather foxed to the front and rear of the volume, as well as around the aforementioned disbound pages. Otherwise, pages are just lightly foxed. Good
