A very immediate look at a Canadian soldier's life in World War I. These letters were written to and published by Billy's mother. The letters cover a period of time from November 1915 to August 1916; book ends with a moving "Moriturus Te Salutat", to the memory of a fallen comrade referred to only as McCarthy. Brown paper-covered boards with brown cloth spine, gilt spine lettering, brown lettering on front board. Text block is foxed, former owner's name on front free endpaper; binding is solid, text is otherwise clean. .
