About the author

Alison Snape is Programme Director for the BSc in Biomedical Science and Lecturer in Biochemistry at King's College London. Her research interests include gene expression and differentiation in early embryonic development.

Despo Papachristodoulou is Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry and Head of Preclinical Medicine at King's College London School of Medicine. Her research interests include diabetes and diabetic complications, insulin metabolism, intermediary metabolism, nutrition, medical education, and curriculum development.

The late William H. Elliott was Head of the Biochemistry department at the University of Adelaide.

Prior to her retirement, Daphne C. Elliott was a senior lecturer at Flinders University. She is one of the first Australian women to win the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship.
