Delightfully illustrated by Cecil Aldin, present here are the famed illustrator's 'Black Puppy Book' and 'White Puppy Book'. Each illustrated volume features a humorous tale concerning a troublesome young pup. Smart copies of two charming early twentieth century illustrated children's books by artist and illustrator Cecil Aldin. Aldin was best known for his delightful paintings and sketches of animals, sports, and rural life, with both of these volumes illustrated throughout. With twelve colour plates to 'The White Puppy Book', and twelve to 'The Black Puppy Book', and further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.Undated; both dated c1909 via Jisc. However 'The White Puppy Book' features the contemporary owner's inscription 'To Mollie from Dody, Christmas 1908' to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip head and tail, and to board perimeters. 'The Black Puppy Book' endpapers renewed. Front hinge of 'The White Puppy Book' starting, with board holding firm, and inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with light spotting present to the first and last few leaves of 'The Black Puppy Book'. Very Good
