First Edition, with "A" on copyright page, SIGNED by Paul Brown and embellished with a lovely horse head sketch by the author on blank fly leaf. (Presentation drawing: "The Rogues Badge - For the USO - Hempstead. - Paul Brown '44." Drawing is of a race horse wearing a racing hood with blinkers (the "rogue's badge"). Beige paper covered boards with black lettering and illustration of race horses on cover. Light soiling,(a few small faint spots, mostly on rear board). Wear-through at corner tips, wear with some loss at top and bottom spine edges. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with beautifully illustrated endpapers. No previous owner markings. Unpaginated.

Scarce book by famous illustrator Paul Brown, giving clear, simple instructions on learning to draw not only horses, but other subjects such as skiers, fishermen, boxing, and other action images. Made more scarce by a lovely original sketch and signature on front fly leaf.

Rare dustjacket has closed tears and shelfwear along edges, but overall in nice condition. Protected in mylar jacket. Front endpapers is a steeplechasing scene. Back endpapers show a polo match. Unpaginated. Clear and concise drawing instructions geared to make the aspiring artist comfortable with plungeing forward and putting pencil to paper.
