Blighty / City Magazines, 1955-60. Very Good. Twenty vintage British pinup & humor magazines devoted to glamour & pinup photography, cartoons & comic serials, humor, true crime fiction, astrology, films, w/ crossword puzzles. Long-running, formed during WWI for British servicemen, persisted through WWII, & renamed Blighty Parade in the late 1950s, featured color centerfolds men/women. Early issues include notable preliminary pages, w/ fantastic comic art by Arthur Ferrier, an already established illustration & dust jacket artist, & columns on foot care advice & beauty. Quality layout, design, & content, the only thing Blighty sacrificed was production values (pulpy stock). 64 Fleet Street, London, location, then in 1959, 45 St. Pancras Way. They even had a fashion line, & sold internationally by Services Central Book Depot, although the United States is not present in their distribution statement on rear panel. Issues included: 1955 (January 15, N794; January 29, N796); 1957 (July 27, N92); 1958 (January 11, N950); 1959 (Blighty Parade: January 10, N1002; February 14, N1007; March 7, N1010; May 30, N1022; [no date but August 15] N1027; August 22, N1028; October 17, N1036; November 7, N1039; November 28, N1042); 1960 (January 16, N1049; January 23, N1050; April 16, N1062; March 26, N1059; July 9, N1074; September 3, N1082; October 29, N1090).Most Blighty issues are uncommon, this being a good example of their changing iconography. B/W/Color throughout, ~36pp., saddle-stapled. Very Good Plus overall, foxing/rust to most.
