Some discolouration to cloth along edges, spine slightly cocked, foxing to outside edges of pages; former owner's signature and date to front pastedown. Dust-jacket browning slightly with spine darkened and some foxing to edge rear flap; 4 cm closed tear to bottom edge of front panel, some paper loss at head and heel of spine and corners; light scratch to rear and overall light dust soil..

John Major, London.,1824. SECOND MAJOR EDITION. Illustrated with 14 copper engraved plates and several woodcuts throughout the text. Two small patches of browning affecting the top outer corner of ten leaves, otherwise a very good copy in fine nineteenth century binding by Thomson of Exeter, with binders ticket on front paste down. Full tan calf, raised bands, compartments fully gilt. Red title label, gilt. Boards with double blind ruled and one gilt ruled borders. Marbled endpapers. School prize plate on front paste down shows that this copy was given as a prize in January 1842. Previous owners name(dated 1881) and ink name stamp on blank endpapers. Front hinge neatly repaired. Some minor rubbing to edges but generally a very good copy in an attractive nineteenth century binding.:

Paris: NP. A lovely clean crisp hard to hard first edition copy in good condition, expected age toning to pages and textblock. Mild rubbing, more pronounced at hinges and extremities. Brown cloth with black lettering. Contains six very graphic sexual scenes by the erotic artist, Jack Craig. . Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1936.

Published on behalf of the subscribers by William MacLellan. Glasgow. 1955. FIRST EDITION, first impression. 4to. (11.2 x 8.9 inches). Illustrated with several full page and smaller illustrations by Fergusson, one in green ink, the others all in black. Publishers green cloth with gilt decoration to the front board and spine lettered in gilt. Some faded spots to the spine cloth and some spotting and offsetting to the blank endpapers otherwise a very good bright copy in the original dustwrapper which is decorated and lettered in white on green paper. Some very minor rubbing to the extremities but overall a very good book in a better than very good dustwrapper. First impression, one of about 140 to 150 copies printed and issued to subscribers.
