Hollis Taggart Galleries. 2005. First edition.. Wraps. Very good. ex museum stamp on blank flyleaf is only flaw. 20 p. . Hollis Taggart Galleries is pleased to present the exhibition "Bohdan Osyczka" from October 6 through November 19, 2005. Large, bold, and intense, Bohdan Osyczka's abstract watercolors redefine conventional thinking about the medium. Born in 1921, Osyczka describes his work as part of the "vernacular abstract." He employs innovative methods of staining, pouring, washing, and splattering pigment on paper, resulting in breathtaking gestural and chromatic compositions. Spanning three decades, from the early 1970's to the present, the exhibition surveys Osyczka s signature inventive effects of paint application. The more than thirty works on view show how Osyczka has mastered the formal possibilities of watercolor. The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue that includes an essay by Jeffery Wechsler, Senior Curator of the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. 20-pgs.; brilliant color illustrations; approx. 36 works in Checklist; Chronology; Bibliography. .
