Bomba the Jungle Boy Among the Pygmies; or, Battling with Stealthy Foes, #12 in the Bomba series, by Roy Rockwood, was originally published in 1931 by Cupples & Leon. Various sources say the author was Howard R. Garis, or John William Duffield. (Roy Rockwood is a pen name.) Preceded by Bomba the Jungle Boy in a Strange Land; or, Facing the Unknown; and followed by Bomba the Jungle Boy and the Cannibals; or, Winning Against Native Dangers and others. The Bomba series, which had been the South American answer to Tarzan for young readers, moves to Africa with the 11th book and stays there for the rest of the series. While Bomba #1 - #10 were widely reprinted by Grosset and Dunlap and other publishers, #11 - #20 were never reprinted and are scarce today.
