About This Item
Bonaventure is Cable's first book on the Cajuns and is described as an "Acadian pastoral" in the bayou country west of New Orleans. In 12885 he moved from Louisiana to Northhampton, Mass beacuse he showed sympathy for racial equality and opposition to Jim Crow, BAL 2346
