London: Printed for the New-York Bible and Common Prayer Book Society by Messrs. Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1869. Leather_bound. Very Good. 3 x 4 inches. BCP: xxx + 580 pages. Selections: 134 + 132 pages, with separate title page and pagination. Additional Hymns: 44 pages, with separate title page and pagination. Each work with pages which are bright and clean and free of marking or soiling. Gift/ownership inscription to ffep "Elizabeth M. Raze Xmas 1883." Bound in flexible black straight grained morocco with gilt cross and "Common Prayer" to front cover. Both covers with double blindrolled borders and blindstamped crosses at corners. Spine with six compartments, each containing a blindstamped cross. All page edges brightly gilt. Yapp edges. Yapp edges lightly rubbed. Griffiths 1869/17. An excellent example of a Civil War Era Prayer Book in a well-executed and very unusual contemporary binding.
