Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Minor peeling to spine and corners. Visible wear marks to boards.

Edges and spine show some wear. Pages lightly browned especially at edges, a bit of light foxing on pages here and there, otherwise pages clean, binding strong. Contains 43 b/w engraved illustrations by various artists, listed. Inside of front cover contains sticker from Wm Muddle Book Binder, Gloversville. Two previous owner's have their names in ink on front endpapers.

Bound in half leather and embossed cloth with gilt rules, title stamped in gilt on the spine, five raised bands, a.e.g., decorated end papers. One inch closed tear at head of spine, extremeties rubbed, otherwise very good.

With vignette on title page, forty-three further engravings in text and four pages of signatures. Bound in full tan morocco with extensive blind and gilt decorations, five raised bands and dark leather title label on spine. All edges gilt and inner gilt dentelles. Leather a little worn at edges, especially around spine ends and folds but still bright, attractive and firm. Internally, hinges strained between endpapers and a little spotting. An extensive collection of poetry by the most prominent and prolific poets of the 19th century, including Wordsworth, Southey, Byron, Shelley etc, illustrated by leading artists of the time such as R P Bonington, Edward Landseer, David Maclise etc. A truly handsome and tactile volume. 8vo.

Wright of London, spines with raised bands and elaborate gilt floral tooling within compartments bordered with twin gilt rules, covers feature an elaborate, extra-wide gilt floral bordered, surrounded by triple gilt rules, with each panel featuring a central device in gilt of three putti stepping through a laurel wreath, while carrying a basket of melons and fruit, edges of boards feature a single gilt rule, inner dentelles feature a border of floral and geometric tooling, all edges gilt (minor rubbing; small ink name on endpaper in first volume).B/w Engraved Illustrations.
