Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/fine. 326p octavp. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket. Inscribed by Banks "For Jonathan (Williams and Tom-- (Meyer) dear friends Love Russell 5/93" Additionally Banks has written "This copy is one of approx. 300 copies not changed in Feb 1980 for legal reasons. Russell Banks 4/2/80" In chapter 5 Banks discusses Errol Flynn and the Miami Mafia, the Cia, Errol Flynn and Menotti's abortion clinic, Mrs Flynn and the Frenchman's Cove Hotel etc. It was feared that Flynn's wife was litigious so the change was made. Its possible Banks wrote this note in the traditional 10 author's copies he received. Jonathan Williams photographer, poet and publisher of Jargon. Tom Meyer his partner the poet. Scarce
