About This Item
"From the d.j. flap: "many cities in the British Isles were regarded as virtually unknown before the commencement of the nineteenth century. In this category some would include Bradford believing, unthinkingly, that it is without history but here is a city which has within its boundaries no less than twelve places which were flourishing when the Norman Invasion occurred. It can also point to evidence of the Celtic past." A few of the essays regarding Bradford are: "Bradford's Celtic Remains"; "Bradford in Domesday Book"; "Bradford's Numismatic History"; "Bradford and the Civil War"; "The Night Watch and the Firefighters"; and "Bradford's vanished railway stations". The book includes 60 illustrations. The Arms of the City of Bradford are in colour on glossy paper across from the title page.
