Oblong folio. 37 black and white maps and charts showing sections of the propsed and existing sections of the highway through Guatemala to Panama. This is the plate volume only, no text. Printed paper wraps bound with rivets. The item has been folded once vertically with wear and loss to the covers. The maps have age toning but are mostly in very good condition, the vertical crease being more a bend on the maps than a crease. The size is 10 by 15 inches; some maps are larger and are folded at the right edges to fit. Only a good copy, but very scarce.

United States, 1900. Very good. Minor spotting, toning. Doilies in excellent shape. No major damage to any of the doilies. A couple short tears, one larger (closed) short tear to left-hand margin of one of the books.. Two (2) handmade books by the same anonymous maker displaying twelve (12) handmade "fibre doyleys". Each doily is unique and measures approx. 5.5" in diameter; the fiber used appears to be a very, very fine organic fiber . Displays the anonymous maker's remarkably fine hand skills. Each octagonal book measures approx. 8.5" by 8.5" and is comprised of six leaves of blue paper secured within cream-colored card wrappers with ribbon. Title "Fibre Doyleys" handwritten in blue ink to upper wrappers. Doilies loose within leaves. Often created for the tourism industry in tropical locales.

Unique dition sous forme de livre : le texte avait pralablement t publi dans l'Avenir militaire. En sus d'une carrire militaire des plus classiques, le colonel Fernand de Parseval de Foudras (1840-1909) avait t choisi en 1887 par le comte de Paris pour parfaire l'ducation militaire de son fils an. A ce titre, comme Gouverneur du jeune duc d'Orlans, il accompagna le prince aux Indes, pendant les dix-huit mois qu'il passa dans l'arme anglaise. Plus tard, il visita avec lui quelques champs de bataille en Europe, puis aux Etats Unis, lors du voyage qu'y fit le Comte de Paris, en 1890, pour se remmorer les souvenirs de la guerre de Scession. C'est ce dernier voyage qui fait l'objet de notre texte. Envoi autographe de l'auteur.

Rare first edition of this unusual work on Christian marriage by the prolific Udinese writer Francesco Beretta (1678-1768).Beretta discusses the aims of marriage, before examining its social effects and benefits, and describing the various types of marriage, as well as the different motives and requirements of those who enter into it. He goes on to examine the importance of wealth, beauty, and good health, before discussing the role of obedience in marriage, inward and outward modesty, clothing and ornament, conversation, dining, theatre ("dangerous to modesty"), love, piety, the good use of time, the period between betrothal and marriage, and the marriage ceremony itself. The author wrote on a number of subjects, including the history of Friuli, theological and biblical exegesis, and philosophy.

With a full page full color dedication on the front blank featuring the animal king. Wolo (Baron Wolff von Falkenstein) was a refugee from Nazi Germany who took up residence in San Francisco where he worked for the Chronicle and developed his superb artistic ability. .
