A beautifully illustrated facsimile of the famous Library Shakespeare, a complete edition of Shakespeare's plays. Illustrated by Sir John Gilbert, George Cruikshank, and R. Dudley. The facsimile illustrations include many colourplates, numerous fine plates in monochrome, and many engravings throughout the text. A richly illustrated volume. Folio, (12 "x 10"), bound in full black leather, the spine and upper cover richly decorated and printed in red and gilt in all-over designs. All edges gilt, moire silk end-leaves. vi 396; 406, 476 pp. A pristine copy, as mint and unused. A STRIKINGLY HANDSOME EDITION WELL SUITED TO THE IMMORTAL WORDS WITHIN, and this in a binding of black leather gilt decorated. The colourplates are in the finest style of the period and set this edition apart from other library Shakespeare editions of both its time and ours.

Oblong folio. 37 black and white maps and charts showing sections of the propsed and existing sections of the highway through Guatemala to Panama. This is the plate volume only, no text. Printed paper wraps bound with rivets. The item has been folded once vertically with wear and loss to the covers. The maps have age toning but are mostly in very good condition, the vertical crease being more a bend on the maps than a crease. The size is 10 by 15 inches; some maps are larger and are folded at the right edges to fit. Only a good copy, but very scarce.

United States, 1900. Very good. Minor spotting, toning. Doilies in excellent shape. No major damage to any of the doilies. A couple short tears, one larger (closed) short tear to left-hand margin of one of the books.. Two (2) handmade books by the same anonymous maker displaying twelve (12) handmade "fibre doyleys". Each doily is unique and measures approx. 5.5" in diameter; the fiber used appears to be a very, very fine organic fiber . Displays the anonymous maker's remarkably fine hand skills. Each octagonal book measures approx. 8.5" by 8.5" and is comprised of six leaves of blue paper secured within cream-colored card wrappers with ribbon. Title "Fibre Doyleys" handwritten in blue ink to upper wrappers. Doilies loose within leaves. Often created for the tourism industry in tropical locales.

Unique Ždition sous forme de livre : le texte avait prŽalablement ŽtŽ publiŽ dans l'Avenir militaire. En sus d'une carrire militaire des plus classiques, le colonel Fernand de Parseval de Foudras (1840-1909) avait ŽtŽ choisi en 1887 par le comte de Paris pour parfaire l'Žducation militaire de son fils a”nŽ. A ce titre, comme Gouverneur du jeune duc d'OrlŽans, il accompagna le prince aux Indes, pendant les dix-huit mois qu'il passa dans l'armŽe anglaise. Plus tard, il visita avec lui quelques champs de bataille en Europe, puis aux Etats Unis, lors du voyage qu'y fit le Comte de Paris, en 1890, pour se remŽmorer les souvenirs de la guerre de SŽcession. The Appearance of Being Oscar, a collection of quotes by Oscar Wilde, first appeared in 1988; Lily and Hodge and Dr. Johnson first appeared in 1991.

A fine copy and fairly scarce. A parody of Othello, "With burlesque notes in the manner of the most celebrated commentators, and other curious appendices." Curious appendices include: a sonet, an ensi ne tu his ledae (Heu Miles); ah! trance lay shone, a sonnet, an ensign to his lady (Hugh Miles); bona partes vi sit tu his ere (Ibef.); Bonaparte's visit to his heir./ With two final leaves of booksellers' advertisements for Stockdale. .

Rare first edition of this unusual work on Christian marriage by the prolific Udinese writer Francesco Beretta (1678-1768).Beretta discusses the aims of marriage, before examining its social effects and benefits, and describing the various types of marriage, as well as the different motives and requirements of those who enter into it. He goes on to examine the importance of wealth, beauty, and good health, before discussing the role of obedience in marriage, inward and outward modesty, clothing and ornament, conversation, dining, theatre ("dangerous to modesty"), love, piety, the good use of time, the period between betrothal and marriage, and the marriage ceremony itself. The author wrote on a number of subjects, including the history of Friuli, theological and biblical exegesis, and philosophy.

Illustrated throughout by Wolo in monochrome and occasionally full color. This is a very good, bright copy with only a trace of wear at edges and corners. The dustwrapper is rubbed at the edges lacks two small pieces, else is in very good condition. It is not price-clipped. With a full page full color dedication on the front blank featuring the animal king. Wolo (Baron Wolff von Falkenstein) was a refugee from Nazi Germany who took up residence in San Francisco where he worked for the Chronicle and developed his superb artistic ability. .
