A first edition of George Harper's self-illustrated travelogue describing his journey from London to Brighton. Charles George Harper describes his journey from London to Brighton Pavilion in this first edition. With numerous in-text illustrations, and forty eight plates, collated and complete. The English author and illustrator wrote around 170 topographical works, exploring Britain's regions, roads, coastlines, inns, and literary connections. in this volume Harper describes his journey from London to Brighton. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper, 'W. H. Green, Dec 10th 1892'. With a thirty two page catalogue of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound. Rubbed to the boards, more so to the spine, which is discoloured. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a couple of closed tears to each. Internally, generally firmly bound with the gutter visible on page 32 and 33. Pages are generally bright and clean, with patches of light scattered foxing. Very Good
