67 pages with tables and diagrams. Octavo (8 1/4" x 6") bound in original publisher's stapled wrappers. Translated by A J Swift. Rare and Unpublished Tournaments and Matches number 20. First edition.
The game scores in this book are taken from two manuscripts by B Kostic which are all the games of the two tournaments except his own. The authors have included those Kostic games which they were able to fine, plus annotations from various contemporary sources. The introductory articles on the Berlin tournament were taken from German chess magazines of the time. The Brno tournament was a tied between Richar Reti and Friedrich (Fritz) Samemisch with socres of 7 with Hans Kmoch capturing third a full point behind. Frank Marshall and K Opocensky tied for fourth through fifth with 5 points each. Berlin 1928 played at the Cafe Koenig was won by Efim Bogoijubow with 8.5 over Fritz Saemisch half point behind. Twelve individuals competed in this contest.
Condition: A very good to fine copy.
