About This Item
Edinburgh: Printed for T. Werner Laurie LTD, 1916. Leather. Very Good. 9" by 6". None. An early copy of George Moore's controversial The Brook Kerith. Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and decoration. Fourth edition. George Augustus Moore (1852 1933) was an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, art critic, memoirist and dramatist. Moore travelled to Jerusalem to research for his novel The Brook Kerith (1916). It was controversial, as it was based on the supposition that a non-divine Christ did not die on the cross but instead was nursed back to health. In The Brook Kerith, Jesus eventually travelled to India to find wisdom. Bound in half leather with gilt lettering and decoration. There is some slight wear to the extremities, including fading. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages are clean with mild browning to the edges. Very Good
