In full vellum, signed by the author and illustrator, and in the publisher's original scarce slip case. A signed Limited Edition first illustrated edition of this novel from Irish writer George Moore, in a full vellum binding and with the scarce publisher's original slip case.Signed by author George Moore, and illustrator Stephen Gooden, to the limitation page, with this being no. 29 of 375 copies printed on hand-made paper.Illustrated with twelve engravings from illustrator Stephen Gooden, including nine full plate engravings. Collated, complete.Moore's controversial novel is based on the supposition that a non-divine Christ did not die on the cross, but was nursed back to health and eventually travelled to India. First published in 1916, Moore travelled to Jerusalem to research his work. In a full vellum binding, with paper covered slip case. Light spots to back strip, with discolouration to boards, as is common with this work. Discolouration most concentrated to head of front board. Light marks to slip case, with small areas of two joints lightly starting, and bumping to back strip head. Internally, firmly bound. Signed and numbered to limitation page. Pages exceptionally clean and bright. Very Good Indeed
