London: Britannicus Liber, 1950. 31 pp, 8 5/8" H. Pictorial front board, red cloth spine. B&w photographs. On November 27th, 1949, the first polar bear cub to be successfully reared in Britain was born at the London Zoo. Originally thought to be male, she was named for her two keepers, Bruce and Sam (reversed). The text of this book describes a series of photographs showing Brumas and her mother, Ivy, exploring their enclosure and 'searching for Brumas' father, Mischa'. Top half of paper on both inside hinges is split - hinges are holding well, light to moderate edge wear - mostly at corners, light fading to spine colour, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, dust soiling at edges of boards and on top of text block, light soiling/rubbing on boards, very small scuff at bottom of front board.. London: Britannicus Liber Limited, 1950. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. First edition and printing. In very good pictorial boards with b/w photos of Brumas with his mother to front, black titles and red cloth spine. The boards are tight, flat and quite clean; spine and edges firm. Very lightly tanned and marked cut edges. The text block has b/w glossy photos on every page and is flat, firm and unmarked - very good condition. Excellent for age. No dedications etc. In fair illustrated dust jacket which replicates the boards. The jacket is fairly clean and with very worn edges with open and closed tears. Price clipped. Inside quality plastic cover. Rare.
