This is an adolescent novel set in 1936 in Flint Michigan with a motherless 10 year-old African-American boy on the run. He has a suitcase and a flyer giving him a clue about his father. In his search for him, there are plenty of characters, jazz, and the Great Depression to deal with as he seeks out this mystery man. A clean very presentable copy.

Bud, Not Buddy is a 1999 children's novel by Christopher Paul Curtis. The book is the winner of the 2000 Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature, as well as the Coretta Scott King Award that is given in recognition of outstanding African-American authors.
