London: John Lane the Bodley Head Ltd, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good +/Good +. Asgen Scott (dust jacket). 12mo. Pp. 170. Blue cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Color somewhat faded from the cover spine and edges and head edge lightly dust-soiled, binding tight and leaves crisp. In the three color illustrated dust jacket with price 7s 6d intact on the front flap. Jacket spine chipped, a 2 x 1/2 inch chip at the top edge of the front panel. The Suffolk farmer-novelist reflects on family, husbandry and home in an "eternal England." Type simply and beautifully set in Eric Gill's Perpetua. Dust jacket, with a charming floral design by Asgen Scott, is now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
