About the author

Katherine Applegate has written numerous books for young readers, including The One and Only Ivan, the middle grade chapter book for which she received the Newbery Medal in 2013. She is also the author of the recently published nonfiction picture book, Ivan: The Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla. She lives in California with her husband and two children.  

Jan Ormerod (1946-2013) was an award-winning author and illustrator of more than seventy books for children during her lifetime. Among her most beloved books are Lizzie Nonsense and Sunshine, an Australian Picture Book for the Year.
