Description

London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1941 . Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 7" by 4.5". None. An early impression of this Bulldog Drummond novel, originated by Sapper and continued by Gerard Fairlie after his death, with the original, scarce dust wrapper. Bound in the publisher's original red cloth, with the original, unclipped, very scarce dust wrapper.Fourth impression. First published in 1939. The Bulldog Drummond series was originated by Herman Cyril McNeile, a British soldier and author who wrote under the pseudonym 'Sapper' due to the fact that serving officers in the British Army were not allowed to publish under their own name. Gerard Fairlie was an English writer and scriptwriter, on whom McNeile supposedly based Bulldog Drummond. After McNeiles death in 1937, Fairlie continued the Bulldog Drummond series. This was the second Bulldog Drummond novel by Fairlie. In this particular adventure, Drummond goes up against a cartel of weapons manufacturers who are determined to get their revenge, by any means necessary. Bound in the publisher's original red cloth, with the original, unclipped, very scarce dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light shelf wear and a little fading to the spine. Front hinge is a touch strained, but holding firm. Loss to the head and tail of the spine of the dust wrapper, with tape reinforcing a few closed tears the the reverse. The odd mark to wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with a little age toning, as is usual with the type of paper used. Very Good Indeed
