Pp. +32 (publisher's catalogue, illustrated), black & white frontispiece and 9 plates, one full page map; cr. 8vo; dark blue pictorial cloth over bevelled boards, lettered in gilt and decorated in grey, white and shades of brown, edges rubbed, the lower board a trifle flecked; all edges burnished olive green; bookseller's sticker at foot of upper pastedown, the free endpapers faintly offset; scattered foxing; Blackie & Son, Limited, London, n.d. Third impression?. Newbolt 97.3. *Although the first two impressions were dated 1901, they were published in 1900. According to Newbolt (p. 359) 'all the evidence points to Blackie having printed three impressions before the end of 1900'. The third impression was the first without a date on the title page.

All books are in very good, or better, condition with defects, if any, fully described. Traditional trade terms apply. Items are offered subject to prior sale.
