About This Item

New York, NY: Dial Press, 1971. First Edition, First Thus . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Lorence Bjorklund (Illustrator). Text/BRAND NEW & Bright. Mustard/gold linen boards/Fine. Illustrated DJ/NF. Reminisences of American West before World War I of historian, biographer, journalist, and novelist John Upton Terrell (- 1988). This volume ranks number 36 of the author's forty books, and is the dearest to his heart. The anecdotes are arranged chronologically and speak of Terrell's rich experiences as a cowboy, sheepherder, telephon lineman, hobo, and tourist. As a journalist, Terrell wrote for The San Francisco Chronicle and United Press, and covered World War II for Newsweek. The pencil drawings of Lorence Bjorklund (1911 - 1978) are marvellous. His books about the West included ''Life Among the Apaches,' ''The Arrow and the Cross: A History of the American Indian and the Missionaries,'' ''Furs by Astor'' and ''Faint the Trumpet Sounds'' with George Walton.
