About This Item
London: Armada Books; Paul Hamlyn, 1965-1968 . First edition. Paperback. Good. 7" by 4.5". R.J. MacDonald. Nine volumes by Charles Hamilton, including four first editions of his famous Billy Bunter series. A nine-volume collection of Charles Hamilton's Greyfriars stories, including four first editions. Comprised of mixed editions and produced by two different publishers, this collection contains first editions of Bunter and the School Rebellion, Bessie Bunter Joins the Circus, Billy Bunter and the Crooked Captain, and Billy Bunter- Sportsman. Writing under the pen-name Frank Richards, English writer Charles Hamilton wrote a long-running series of stories with recurrent characters for weekly magazines such as The Magnet. His most famous works are the boy's public schools stories set at Greyfriars school featuring Billy Bunter. With one page of publisher's adverts to the rear of Bunter The Tough Guy of Greyfriars, Bunter's Holiday Cruise, Billy Bunter's Big Top, Bunter and the School Rebellion, and Bessie Bunter Joins the Circus. In the publisher's original paperback bindings. Externally, generally smart. Billy Bunter a the School Rebellion and Billy Bunter and the Crooked Captain are rubbed to the covers and the spine. The spine is a little cracked to Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School, Billy Bunter's Postal Order, and Billy Bunter-Sportsman. The glue is visible to the first page of Bunter, The Tough Guy of Greyfriars, and the front hinge has nearly failed to Bunter's Holiday Cruise, with a two-inch tear to the rear joint. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned but clean throughout. Good
