Description

London New York Toronto: Longmans, Green & Co, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good/Very Good-. E. G. N. Kinch. 8vo. Pp. 138. With line drawings throughout the text. Glossary, which also serves as an index. Bound in full taupe cloth with printed spine label on spine. Indistinguishable rubber stamp on title page. Dust jacket, with shallow nicks, now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve. Printed and bound in India, the author's account was written there while Japanese invaders still occupied Burma (Myanmar). The illustrations well complement the author's wistful memoir of happily coming of age in Tharawaddy, describing Burmese cultural references, especially concerning cuisine, with the Western reader in mind.
