Description:
Alfred A. Knopf. New York.,1992-98. FIRST EDITIONS. 1st impressions. Three Volumes. 8vo. (8.6 x 6.1 inches). Fine, bright copies in the publishers fine original dustwrappers, designed by Chip Kidd. A fine set of true first editons of this hugely popular trilogy. There is some confusion about a probable trial issue dustwrapper for the first title, with no advance praise notices on the lower panel and lacking the blue capital letter 'A' at the start of the blurb inside the front flap. This wrapper was not officially issued with the published book. The first edition wrapper, as issued on day of publication, has the price of $21.00 on the inner front flap and the number code '5/92' at the bottom of the inner rear flap. The wrapper on All the Pretty horses in this set has both of these points.

A Fine, tight, unread copy, in a Fine dust jacket with just a touch of toning (much less than often seen), of the third (of course) novel in the Kinsey Millhone series, INSCRIBED, SIGNED AND DATED BY SUE GRAFTON on the title page as follows: " For _____... / yours till the / end of crime / Sue / 5-1-88". TOGETHER WITH the rather uncommon "C" is for Corpse bookmark in Fine condition. One of the "Alphabet" series by the 2009 recipient of the Grand Master Award given annually by the Mystery Writers of America. Irregularly awarded prior to 1978, the Award has since been given to one writer in the genre per year----2009, when both Sue Grafton and James Lee Burke were named Grand Masters----being the only exception. Other winners include: Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Ellery Queen, Alfred Hitchcock, P. D. James, Dick Francis, and John Le Carre. The first edition is not common in a condition this nice and is QUITE UNCOMMON SIGNED. The promotional bookmark is rather uncommon as well. A Fine, Superior copy, SIGNED BY SUE GRAFTON.

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
