From Wikipedia: "Norma Fox Mazer (May 15, 1931 October 17, 2009) was an author and teacher, known for her books for children and young adults. Her novels featured credible characters confronting situations such as family separation and death. Mazer began writing professionally as a young mother and she and her husband Harry wrote stories for magazines; they would later write novels together.
