Illustrated with "56 color plates; almost 100 cake designs; and over 200 black and white illustrations." The purpose of this book is twofold. "First, the teaching fundamentals of icing, the use and care of equipment, the making of flowers, fruits and birds, the methods of lettering, figuring and latticing, and the creation of designs. Second, to show its practical application by the description and photographs, in black and white and color, of almost 100 cakes." from the flap. The dust jacket is worn along the edges with short tears; the text is clean and without markings. A nice copy now in a clear removable cover. ; 8vo .

Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and tanning.

Illustrator: Photographic. 500 g; 160 pages, with illustrated end pages, and the text illustrated with part page and full-page black-and-white and also colour photographs, as well as line drawings. Many of the illustrations are step-by-step. Photographic illustrated dustjacket, now protected, has largish tears on the rear panel and front panel, chipping to the top edge. The book offers many suggestions for sugar flower making, moulded flowers, for cakes for celebrations, cakes for children's, symbolising is, and also basic cake recipes. There are a total of 56 colour plates. The book was probably printed in the early 1950s that there is no confirmation with the text that I can find. . seventh impression. In very good bright red cloth boards, gilt cake motif to front and gilt titles to back strip. The covers are very clean, firm and level. Clean green and white end papers with images of cakes. Quite clean cut edges. Very good secure text block, with b/w or colour photos on every page. There is no tanning or foxing and without dedications or annotations. In good dust jacket inside plastic cover. The jacket has large colour image of woman icing a cake; edge-worn with a few small closed tears,. Not price clipepd.

A Near Fine book which is Fine but for the graceful notations by Myrtle ford on the ffep verso and its opposed half-title page, in a better than Very Good jacket which is price-clipped and shows light roughening at the top front (see scans).
