First edition. A journal kept by E. Alexander Powell, American journalist during World War I and adventurer in the Middle East after the war. It chronicles his trip from Jerusalem in British Palestine up to Damascas, East to the Euphrates River an on to Teheran - the seat of the famous Peacock Throne of the Persian Shahs. journey returns to Palestine by Aleppo and Beirut back to Jerusalem. Illustrated with photographs of the trip of the exotic sites, events, peoples and monuments they saw. Chapter headings include: "In the chariot-ruts of history," "An Arabian anabasis," "Across the land of the lion and the sun," "The city of the Peacock Throne,", etc. Very good. (40128).
