First editions. 4tos., approx. 40 to 50 pp. each, numerous fine b&w and color photo-reproductions and illustrations. 120 issues of the English Language edition, from January 1967 - December 1976. Lacking only 6 issues: 1967, June, Nov.; 1970, March, May; 1971, Feb., April. Several of the 1967 issues have short tears at the spine ends. All others are very good to fine condition. CAMERA, began publishing in July 1922; over the years it had a variety of subtitles and was a German language publication. In 1951, it split into three separate editions, German, French and English. Allan Porter became editor in chief in January, 1966 and quickly revamped the contents to feature modern photographers. Subjects range from the history of photography to contemporary masters; landscape to architecture; documentary to advertising; with essays on aesthetics, the FSA, nudes, processes, printing, women photographers, pictorialism, Victorian photographers, reportage, etc. The high quality printing of the images was by sheet-fed photogravure - as a friend explained to me, he looked forward to receiving his monthly copies because they were the poor man's Camera Work. It ceased publishing in December, 1981.
