Paris, Delanchy, 1840. 1st Edition . Hardcover. .. Octavo. Pp. 19. HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary quarter cloth and handsome marbled boards, spine gilt. In fine condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Of utmost rarity. A second edition was published already the same year by F. Poisson, Caen. The work is attributed to Emmanuel, Marquis de Grouchy, Marshal of France (1766-1847). As commander-in-chief of the armies of France, he successfully led his soldiers after Waterloo back to the capital. He later resigned and retired to the USA but in 1819 he returned to France and was reinstated as marshal in 1831. General Baron Pierre Berthezène (1775-1847). Noteworthy, "Réponse au nom de la mémoire du général baron Le Sénécal, a la calomnie publiée par M. le baron Berthezène, dans un libelle en date du 27 Mai 1840" (also offered by Librarium) was published in Paris in 1840.
