About This Item

St Catharines, Ontario: Vanwell, 2000. 208 pp, 10 1/4" H. Profusely illustrated in b&w with photographs, diagrams. "The Canadian Navy acquired its first submarines on the day the First World War was declared. As well, Canadian officers served in all theatres of war aboard British submarines, continuing into the Second World War. During WWII and the following Cold War Canada owned no submarines, but 'rented' submarine services from Britain and the US with which to train its large, modern anti-submarine fleet. Finally, during the 1960s the decision was made to acquire submarines for the RCN, and Canada now has a very dedicated submarine service of its own. Perkins, himself a submariner, ably chronicles that evolution in these pages." Book is Fine. Dust jacket has very light rubbing, some faint scratches on rear panel, very light wrinkling at top edge of rear flap.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good.
