Book is clean, bright, tight, no soiling, with light and small chipping on lower edge of front cover and a small chip to spine head. Pages glossy, clean and unmarked. White glossy jacket in Near Fine condition with illustration by artist John Porter who combined likenesses of three family physicians profiled in the book with a rendering of the quintessential old-time general practitioner. End papers: "The Doctor" painted by Sir Luke Fildes in 1891-it was one of the most popular paintings in America at the turn of the 20th century.
