The text is illustrated with evocative drawings by Alan Lee  both in colour and in duo toned paintings. Khaki coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, again by Alan Lee, with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. In this book the author and the artist look at castles, both in reality and in literature. A little rubbing of the book corners and back strip corners. Very light age toning of the text block edges. Ruffling of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing of the panels. Yellowing of the top half of the dustwrapper and there is a 1 inch tear to the top edge of the rear panel. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
