The First UK printing published by Hamish Hamilton in 1951. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Slight pushing at the spine tips with some fading and toning to the spine ends with light toning to the board edges. Light bumping to the corners. A mild vertical crease to the spine. A little age related dustiness and toning to the text block. One small light mark to the upper text-block. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. It is the correct first issue bearing the price of '10s 6d. net' as called for. A little light rubbing to the front spine fold, spine tips and to the spine (affecting a little of the lettering) in places. A 2cm closed tear to the upper front spine fold and a 3cm closed tear to the lower front spine fold. The rear white panel and flaps are very clean for their age. The Fritz Wegner wrapper artwork looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. A much nicer wrapper than usually encountered.
