Hardback. First Edition. American Edition. No dustjacket was issued with this edition. Blue boards. Age and self wear - spine is sun damaged - Binding good - no pages missing - clean text pages, no markings on pages. Front and back frontispages have yellow spotting - light spotting to half title page, title page, letter from Archbishop and contents page. Inside back cover has a brown envelop glued to it (where map of the Great Western Railway was stored - this map is missing). Inscription to previous owner on bottom corner of first frontispage written in black ink ("To Donald from Mr & Mrs Tomlinson, Christmas 1940"). British Cathedrals, fine photos and drawings with detailed essays, includes: Cathedrals and how to understand their architecture, and a special map showing the Cathedrals, Abbeys and Castles within the area served by the Great Western Railway. Part of a trilogy produced by Great Western to promote tourism along their rail lines.
