The first 20 pages have been printed on a bus coloured stock. Map illustrated end pages, showing the "High Country". The text is illustrated with 326 illustrations with 34 maps and diagrams. Brown coloured boards with white coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper (wraparound) with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. This book records the early development of Victoria's alpine regions by the pioneer cattlemen. They came from the Monaro in the 1930s to reach the "Plains of Omeo", others advanced up the Murray and its tributaries and its tributaries to discover the Bogong High Plains in the 1850s and the Gippslanders moved their herds to alpine pastures in the 1860s. -- dustwrapper blurb.
