Includes discussions of dozens of formations and numerous skillfully executed watercolors of cross-sections of formations, etc. Of special interest are four large watercolors, two of them 3-panel fold outs, of Wyoming landscapes, and one of the Rock Creek oil fields. Also includes 36 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" original, unique photos inserted in corner mounts - views of Wyoming camp facilities, canyons, mountains, striking geological features, Independence Rock, gold mining operations, the Pathfinder Dam, Parco, Wyoming (street view), oil distillers, a Snow Range sericite mine and much more. Hand finished colour printed frontispiece and several small engravings throughout the text. Neat previous owners inscription, dated 1852, on the front free endpaper. A very good copy in original green cloth binding with blind stamped decoration and ruled lines to spine and boards. Spine lettered in gilt. Front board with floral gilt border around gilt lettering. Yellow coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Spine is a bit faded and edges rubbed but generally still quite bright. Inner hinges cracked but still holding firm. Overall a near very good copy of this attractive and in formative book.
