Attractive catalog for a major retrospective of the paintings of Charles Demuth who is mostly known for his beautiful watercolors of flowers and fruit. His great painting "I Saw The Figure 5 In Gold" is one of the seminal paintings of modern American Art, and is reproduced in color along with one other color plate + many b&w repros. Includes a 1pg, tribute to Demuth by Marcel Duchamp. Demuth who was gay did many homo erotic drawings and watercolors which were repressed and not discussed for many years until the 1970's when they were shown in a retrospective at the Whitney Museum. Fine.
