First US edition preceeding the UK edition by 3 years. First printing. first issue with six line colophon (publisher's imprint) to last leaf. Red boards with gilt titles. Light wear to extremities with a few small light marks to boards. Internally clean and complete. The supplied very good second issue dustwrapper (with isbn number to rear panel) has wear to extremities with a few nicks & several short closed tears. Original price of $3.95 to front flap. Tessa Dahl was aged 8 in 1965. She was the second daughter of Road Dahl and American actress, Patricia Neal. She grew up in Great Missenden at Gipsy House; she is the mother of model & author, Sophie Dahl. The BFG published in 1982 is dedicated to both Olivia and Tessa Dahl.
