Chicago: E. G. Renisch, 1919. Very good condition. Large printed color WWI poster, with printed caption below describing the importance of the battle in France. Fought on on July 18, 1918 and was one of the first actions of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) under General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing.
The caption describes the Battle as an attack of 6,000 Marines against 30,000 German,stating that after the battle all that was left was 3 prisoners: "How did you do it? .. We are Crack German Storm Troops" "Storm Hell!" said an American, "I come from Kansas, where we have Cyclones".
The image depicts the Marines in on the main street of the French village, charging the enemy with the American flag held high. The battle is shown at its peak, with bi-planes strafing the scene, and explosions and smoke filling the sky.
Printed on paper with offset of the cardboard framed backing an original cardboard bread box, Ward's Tip Top Bread, not affecting the front. 20 x 16"
