This bibliography includes works on the game of chess wholly or partly in the English language published between 1969 and 1988. It is intended to continue Douglas A Betts' Chess: an annotated bibliography of works published in the English language, 1850-1968. The bibliography includes works published between 1969 and 1968. Works published before 1969 but subsequently reprinted or appearing in a new or revised editions are included. Such editions of works included in the bibliography published after 1988 are also included (a few appearing as late as the second half of 1990). All serial publications active in the stated period are included.
