Black-and-white photographic frontispiece of Don Mario Borelli, the Priest of the Urchins. The text is illustrated with 14 black and white photographs throughout the book. Black coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper showing a young boy in holding and child, against a yellow coloured background with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and red coloured titles to the backstrip. An expose of the squalor, malnutrition and general degradation of Naples slum area post World War II. The author primarily focuses his book on the scugnizzi [ the urchins of Naples ] and of a lone priest, Mario Borelli, trying to bring hope to the hopeless. Softening to the backstrip edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Cocking of the spine. Some marks to the book panels with browning and foxing to the textblock edges with lighter browning and faint foxing to the pages. Offset tanning and foxing to the endpapers.
