1 page letter, written on both sides, with diagrams. (10" x 8 1/4") Written in Robert Braune's hand and signed by him from Gothenburg, to Swedish chess editor Joel Fridlizius.Robert Braune is best known for Alain White's editorship of Robert Braune: Apotre de la Symetrie originally published in 1914 and reprinted in a limited edition of 250 copies in 1988. Braune, a chemist by profession, had studied in Graz where he also came into contact with chess. In 1866, he became secretary of the Chess Society in Graz. Braune has universal education, his knowledge of languages () is especially astonishing. In the 'Österreichischen Lesehalle' he published translations of Italian, Polish and Hungarian poems. There, he also published own songs and sonnets. In 1864, the Deutsche Schachzeitung published some of his compositions, mostly 4- and 5-move problems. In the following years, he gained world-wide recognition as he became a specialist in compositions. In 1913, the French Strategie published a collection of…

London: Marcus Ward, circa 1879. Proof. Sheet. Near fine. Kate Greenaway. Classic Kate Greenaway lithographic trade card proofs. Eight scenes, including four of a child's flower processional, and four of Victorian ladies. Uncut and complete. Toning due to age. Previous owner's notation and price on back side. A rare find for any Greenaway or Victoriana collector. 12 1/2 x 18 inches. Kate Greenaway (Catherine Greenaway) Born London, March 17, 1846 - Died November 6, 1901Kate Greenaway (often spelt incorrectly as Kate Greenway) was an English artist and illustrator/writer of children's book, cards, calendars and much more. Her subjects mainly consisted of children, young girls, flowers and landscapes. She was the daughter of John Greenaway a well-known draughtsman and engraver on wood.Kate completed a course at Heatherleys life classes and the Slade School in South Kensington. It was soon after completing these studies in 1868 that she started to exhibit watercolor drawings at the Dudley Gallery in London. By 1877 her drawings at Dudley Gallery were selling for 54 pounds. In 1868 she also started to design greeting cards for Marcus Ward. Over the years many of these were also used for calendar and book illustrations. During the period from 1868 to 1878 some of the cards were registered at Stationers' Hall but not in her name. The first recorded design at Stationers' Hall in her name was in 1879. By this stage she had also been working for other publishers such as Goodall. --- from kate greenaway cards site

Description:
Redlands, California: Pure Gold, [1955]. Stapled wraps. Very good. [12p.] Small chips to wrap edges. The Mutual Orange Distributors (MOD) was founded in Redlands, California, in 1906 as a cooperative marketing association representing citrus growers in California. Within a few years, the coop included citrus growers in western Arizona. In 1955, MOD changed its name to Pure Gold, originally the brand name for fruit grown by the approximately 2,500 MOD growers. Sunkist took over the Pure Gold trademark when the co-op closed in 1987 due to housing developments replacing the citrus fields and the shrinking number of packing plants. This booklet explains the history of the citrus-growing culture in California and Arizona and provides information on the variety of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit grown and their cultivation and packaging. A map on the back shows the regions represented by the Pure Gold cooperative. Scarce, none located in OCLC. B&w illustrations and halftone photographs. (11"x8-1/2")
