Black cloth binding, clean but bottom half back joint and third lower front joint cracked plus thin split across spine between them, spine ends also rubbed, bottom chipped below text-block, Fair-Good only. Decorated end-papers, col. frontispiece+vii+62+ xviii (Appendix) + large block of dealer's ads. with pp.xi-xviii interleaved with first few of these, first and last ads have col.ills, plate blocks after each of the six chapters varying from 5-21 single-sided plates (85 in all = 170 pp.), several inc. a few colour plates, Appendix inc. 3 maps, date-mark and characters, Rulers of China and Notes on pronunciation. Unlike the cover this is internally VG if not better, hence overall Good+ seems reasonable. Scarce and important. 25 cm x 30.5 cm
