About This Item

Leigh-on-Sea, England: F. Lewis, 1961. Hardcover. VG- (DJs have some edge wear and small tears & instances of soiling, glossy plate pages have slight edge tanning; otherwise quite nice.). 8 vols., Amish blue cloth, gilt letters on spines & front covers, paper dust jackets, 724 pp. of text, + 700+ BW illus. Title on spines & front covers: The Old English Landscape Painters. An 8-volume set, first issued in 1926 as 2 vols., with a 3rd vol. supplement released in 1947. This is the "new revised and enlarged edition," issued in sequence from 1957-1961, and reprinted in its entirety in1971. Each volume contains both narrative entries and illustrative plates. A handy resource to have, and certainly well-priced considering the amount of information and visuals contained within.
