The author is an expert in this subject and has one of the largest private collections of Civil War items in the nation. The extensive text is fully illustrated with over 350 photos. Contains an index, bibliography, and a list of Federal and Confederate contractors in the rear. Original blue cloth publisher's binding with black spine lettering. There is a previous owner name and address on end paper with a note referring to his ancestor's watch which is pictured in the book. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book. Dust jacket has edge wear to the top, else it is clean and is not price clipped. First appearing in 1963, this is a Castle reprint--the fact that it has been reprinted several times is a testament to its quality. ; B&W Photographs & Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 360 pages .
